VERBATIM: The Language Quarterly is published in March, June, October, and December (the Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter issues). The magazine is printed in Canada on recycled paper.

VERBATIM was founded in 1974 by Laurence Urdang, the noted lexicographer. In 1997 it was purchased by Word, Inc., a non-profit corporation based in Wisconsin, through the generosity of our late benefactor, Warren Gilson.

Erin McKean has been the editor since 1997. She is also the Editor in Chief of U.S. Dictionaries for Oxford University Press USA.

Hazel Hall is our UK representative, handling subscriptions in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Lorraine Alexson is our copy editor, and Deena Fisher is our typesetter. Our database consultant for indexing is Jane Cates.

Nick Humez, Mat Coward, and Barry Baldwin are our regular columnists.

Our Board of Directors is Michael Adams, Joan Houston Hall, Simon Winchester, and Arnold Zwicky.
